First, Virgil makes a weird sister/sisters comment to Hardware. Then, back at the Hawkins' house, we see two versions of his sister (check them out -- they are in different rooms, wearing different clothes). And on top of that, the mysterious cloaked woman who keeps popping up in all of DC's new books is watching one of these Sharons.AnotherJohnnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13190497.post-90434833519323270862011-09-08T13:26:13.017-04:002011-09-08T13:26:13.017-04:00Kudos on the release. I haven’t got a chance to check it out yet, but I’m planning on picking it up.

Judging from the reviews, there’s still some issues that have to be worked out:

http://www.geeknewwave.com/node/716

http://comics.ign.com/articles/119/1193059p1.html

http://open.salon.com/blog/csdaley/2011/09/07/the_new_dc_universe_week_2_reviews

http://csdaley.com/2011/09/07/the-new-dc-universe-week-2-reviews/#comments

http://ifanboy.com/reviews/static-shock-1/#comment-339906

http://www.schizopolitan.com/comics-review-the-dc-new-52-week-2-action-comics-animal-man-
batgirl-batwing-detective-comics-green-arrow-hawk-and-dove-justice-league-international-men-of-war-o-m-a-c-static-shock-stormwatch-swamp-thi/

http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=383592

Still, it seems okay. I’m just hoping it finds an audience.

I have a couple of questions:

1. I noticed in the old series that Virgil’s dialog boxes were in in a zig-zag/”lightning” outline when he spoke as Static. I took that to mean that Virgil’s voice was “electronically-altered”/electronic-sounding when in “Static-mode.” Are we going to see that in the current book? It’s a nice feature from the original series that I think could make for an excellent distinguishing feature for the character currently. Anything to set him apart more.

2. This is annoying:

http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=382088

http://www.comicvine.com/static/29-26578/static-shock-1/92-631661/

I understand why DC does it (though I don’t like it), but is there any way to counteract what’s obviously going to be the end result?

3. Are we going to get some DCU team-ups to draw in more readers and hopefully have them give this book a try?

4. I know Virgil’s Milestone canon is still intact, but what about his Teen Titans history?

Again, kudos on the release.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13190497.post-6426199646273836442011-09-08T02:51:56.435-04:002011-09-08T02:51:56.435-04:00Hey Mr. Rozum. I was a nice little touch in the old milestone books to help keep his civie i.d. a secret. Hopefully that gets fixed soon!Ryannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13190497.post-26891464199223688852011-09-07T20:22:37.546-04:002011-09-07T20:22:37.546-04:00Just finished reading it. I missed the boat with Static the first time around (and the second if you count the cartoon), but after reading your work on Xombi this was one of the books I was looking forward to the most, and it didn't disappoint. Honestly though, I did think the art was a little weak. I don't hate McDaniel's art, I was a fan of his on Nightwing back in the day, but in this it seemed rushed.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
