Beyond that I will just say that the intention is to bring quality storytelling that builds on the Static legacy rather than replace it.John Rozumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03626209473214085436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13190497.post-29860387020758074582011-06-08T15:28:26.048-04:002011-06-08T15:28:26.048-04:00Congrats on Static!Congrats on Static!Ken H.http://sequentialink.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13190497.post-57975557568512662272011-06-08T12:57:05.407-04:002011-06-08T12:57:05.407-04:00Trying to find the best way to phrase this as a qu...Trying to find the best way to phrase this as a question...

Now that you've been named the writer for the revived STATIC SHOCK comic, what can you tell us about your plans for the title? I cannot comment on anything to do with the September reboot until DC has made their announcements about what titles will be appearing.

Whether Xombi will be continuing or not, the best way to keep it coming is to write the powers that be at DC a letter that you send them via snail mail. This means that you took the time to let them know, and therefore you really must care. The same goes for any other title you enjoy.

Robert, I'd really like to devote some time to Batman. He, and Spider-Man, were the first actual superheroes I took an interest in along with all the monster, dinosaur and Disney comics I read as a kid. The thing that appeals to me about Batman is its a series that's really psychologically oriented. Not only are all of Batman's villains messed up mentally, but Batman's pretty much a wreck as well. I always liked the idea that Bruce Wayne is who Batman dresses up as to go out into a world that he's not comfortable in. Also, you can do some pretty creepy stuff in Batman.John Rozumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03626209473214085436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13190497.post-68459868349175900772011-06-06T19:07:10.374-04:002011-06-06T19:07:10.374-04:00Michael - I've only seen the first three and t...Michael - I've only seen the first three and the 1st Rob Zombie remake.

The original Halloween is pretty decent, but not the be all end all horror movie so many make it to be. I never found it to be particularly scary. It has a real made for tv feel to it and some glaring story holes. I wrote about it more extensively during one of the last Halloween Countdowns.

I haven't seen the second installment since it first came out. All i remember was someone slipping and falling on a floor covered in blood in the world's most empty hospital.

I really like Halloween III: Season of the Witch and feel that this is the direction the franchise should have taken. Having stand alone movies using the holiday as a back drop still seems preferable to a series around the same masked killer. The line about how they got the rock from stonehenge to the U.S. is my favorite way to deal with exposition for something unexplainable, and I use it regularly.

I actually liked the Rob Zombie remake. Yes, it is plenty flawed, but I thought it was more successful in many ways than the John Carpenter version. Involving the parents as victims made everything seem more brutal, and it was plenty brutal to start with. I just wish the characters were more engaging.John Rozumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03626209473214085436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13190497.post-75427678616117392112011-06-06T16:40:27.139-04:002011-06-06T16:40:27.139-04:00You (Xombi, that is) got a damned stellar review o...You (Xombi, that is) got a damned stellar review on Ain't It Cool News last week that pretty much laid out the case that you're the cream of DC's crop at the moment.
