The second movie I watched tonight was "Blood of Dracula" (1957) directed by Herbert Strock and produced by Herman Cohen. A companion movie to "I Was a Teenage Werewolf" and "I Was a Teenage Frankenstein" this could easily have been titled "I Was a Teenage Vampire" A bit of a juvenile delinquency set in a girl's boarding school, troubled, mouthy Nancy (Sandra Harrison) ends up being hypnotized using a Carpathian Medalion by Miss Branding (Louise Lewis) the school's chemistry teacher, who is experimenting with bringing out people's inner monsters as deadly weapons in the hopes of bringing about world peace and ending nuclear proliferation. Go figure.
Under the spell of the medalion, Nancy turns into a snarling vampire, a begins a string of murders. Eventually, she breaks through the post hypnosis amnesia and recognizes what's happening. She kills Miss Branding before fatally being injured herself.
Not as good as "I Was a Teenage Werewolf" and not hokey enough to be a so bad it's good type of movie, this was still enjoyable to watch. There's a lot of padding via dialogue from the police investigating the crimes, and from Miss Branding, but this is almost made up for by the brief musical number "Puppy Love" that breaks out just before the first murder occurs.
