The H-Man (1958) is a mixed genre movie. Part detective story, part gangster picture, part horror by way of science fiction, it manages to meld it's various genres convincingly. A criminal is hit by a car on a rainy night leaving behind only his clothes leading police to a scientist who believes that this disappearance is connected to a derelict ship that had been exposed to H bomb tests, turning its crew into what he calls H Men. These radiation afflicted men are transformed into a new life form like a protoplasmic ooze which can dissolve their victims into puddles of bubbly fluid.
The pacing is a bit on the slow side, but it has a really good cast, interesting special effects which utilize sound as well as visual elements, and some gorgeous cinematography and production design, particularly during the first nightclub scene.
