In Comic Book Stores Today

THE WEB #5 hits comic book stores today. The co-feature starring the Hangman is written by me with artwork by Tom Derenick and Bill Sienkiewicz with Travis Lanham on letters and Guy major on colors. This issue introduces us to some key villains who will be having a big impact on the Hangman's future. One of them is a an old Red Circle villain made new, the other is all new.

Self Portrait c. 1984-1985

My absence here just means I've been busy. I still have a bunch of stuff I'd like to post which involve a bit of time to put together, which is something I don't have a lot of right now. In the mean time, here's something that doesn't require much from me.

This is a self portrait I took for my photography class, freshman year at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. It was either taken in the fall of 1984 or Spring of 1985. The fellow in the mask is film director and screenwriter, Steven Peros wearing a mask (which I still have) by Dave Ayres, who created masks for "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "Something Wicked This Way Comes," "Tourist Trap," and other movies. The eye is a glass eye keychain (I no longer have) and the hands are just inexpensive monster hand gloves (which I do have). That fine 80s feather back hair was my own (which I also no longer have).

The photo is not soft focus. It's mounted to heavy board and didn't fit my scanner bed which is why it looks this way.

View the Complete Gallery 1988 He-Man Show Now

The opening for the "Under the Influence: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" show at Gallery 1988 was a huge success. There was a line of people waiting to get in that was two blocks long for the entire night, and the gallery stayed open an extra hour to accommodate as many people as possible.

If you live in the Los Angeles area, the show runs through January 29, so go check it out.

If you don't live in Los Angeles, you can still see all of the works in the show by visiting Gallery 1988s virtual showing here .

You can see the location of all three of my works in the above photo, taken from Gallery 1988's website. The two red pieces to the right of the huge Castle Grayskull facade are mine as is the greenish piece with the reflection on it just above them on the foreground wall. More direct images of them can be seen by visiting the above link.

A Reminder...

Just a reminder. The "Under the Influence: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" show at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles opens tonight. I have three collages in this show. If that's not enough to draw you in there are dozens of other artists participating as well and the entire gallery has been transformed into Castle Grayskull.

10 New England Esotericists to Watch in 2010

The Sci-Tech Heretic has posted a list of 10 New England Esotericists to Watch in 2010 . The list includes regional people covering subjects such as ufology, cryptozoology, the paranormal and the occult, areas which have filled a large percentage of my work in comics.

I am honored to be on that list and would like to thank Mark Baard for including me and Loren Coleman for suggesting me.
