31 Days of Halloween - Day 12 - Movie 2
The Final Destination (2009), the fourth film in the series follows the exact same formula as the previous movies in the franchise; the film opens with a disaster (this time at a NASCAR race) which violently kills lots of people. The disaster turns out to be a premonition witnessed by one of the characters who manages to rescue a number of the would be victims from impending doom, only to have them all killed off one by one via odd chains of events that also lead to spectacular violent deaths.
This time the character who had the initial premonition also has mini premonitions of the successive deaths which he uses to try and prevent them as well. Otherwise the characters are just as generic as the other films, and in the rule of diminishing returns, not only is this the worst film in the series, but the Rube Goldberg styled deaths are far less creative. In fact we even get a number of repeat methods from the previous films.
The first two Final Destination films I liked quite a bit. I even enjoyed the third to a degree, but I was completely bored by this entry.

#5 has just been released here in Japan. Do you have any desire to see it as well?
I'd probably have to hear some strong recommendations first, or it would have to fall into my lap. I felt by the end of 3 and certainly by the end of 4 that there wasn't much more that could be done with this.
