The Grim Gallery Embarking On Year Fifteen

 

Fifteen years ago I began The Grim Gallery, a companion blog where I'd share the thousands of digital images of monsters of the screen, page, museum and art gallery, as well as other sources. As of today I've posted 5097 of them at the rate of one per day. If you like monsters then head on over and dig deep into monsters both popular and obscure.

31 Days of Halloween - Day 31 - Bonus

Thanks to everyone who visited this month for the Halloween Countdown as I guided you through dozens of monsters and over 70 movies. For those of you needing even more Halloween goodness tonight and through the days of head, here are some offerings for you.

The illustration above is a 3-D cut paper piece that I created for Underneath the Juniper Tree as the cover for the Fall 2013 issue. Each issue is filled with creepy stories and chilling art, and you can read them for free. Great for under the blankets on a windy Halloween night. 

The Grim Gallery is my other blog where I've been sharing some of the thousands of horror related images I've accrued through the years at the rate of one a day 365 days a year. It doesn't sound like much, but it's been running for three and a half years now with 900 images so far. 

Available now at a comic book store or book seller near you is X-Files Classics Volume 2 from IDW. This hardcover (despite what it says on Amazon) collects issues 10-19 of the X-Files comic book series which ran concurrently with the television show. It includes the first three issues I wrote. There is a link to order it at the bottom of this post. 

X-Files Classics Volume 3 collects issues 20 - 29, most of which were written by me. This won't be available until January 21, 2014, but you can pre-order it now using the link at the bottom of this post.

31 Days of Halloween - Introduction

Welcome to my 8th Annual Halloween Countdown. For each day throughout the month of October I will provide posts in the spirit of my favorite holiday. Like previous years, each day will contain posts regarding my daily movie viewing, but for this countdown's central posts I'm going to do something different and thematic.

I've been working as a writer in the comic book industry for many, many years now, primarily on comics with some sort of connection to monsters or the supernatural. For each day of this year's countdown I will provide a post pertaining to one or more monsters from various stories I've written. 31 Days only allows me to present a very small percentage, so if this year's theme is well received I may come back to it in a future Halloween Countdown.

If that's not enough, my companion blog, The Grim Gallery, which offers up monstrous images all year long will also be offering up some seasonal scares. If you join me on facebook, I'll be sharing more images and videos throughout the month.

I'm not the only one sharing a Countdown to Halloween this year. Hundreds of other people are too. My companion blog, The Grim Gallery, reached its 500th post today. This is a blog I created in order to put all of the monster and horror images I've accumulated over the years out into circulation for other monster lovers to enjoy at the rate of one image per day. That means that as of today there are 500 monster pictures for you to look at.

The Grim Gallery's First Anniversary

One year ago I started a companion blog which was created as a means for me to take all of the digital files I've either amassed, or created, of monster imagery and to put them out into circulation for others to enjoy and take for their own use.

Granted a lot of these images are probably familiar, but there are quite a number of rare pieces as well. At the rate of one image per day, The Grim Gallery showcases stills, screen grabs, art, toys, models, costumes, props, book, magazine and comic book covers featuring all manner of monster.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of the 366 images posted during The Grim Gallery's first year, and a meager handful of the thousands of images I have left to post. I've already completed scheduling posts through 2014 and there are still so many monsters which have yet to make an appearance.
