100 Days Until Halloween
There's only 100 days until Halloween, and only 69 Days until the beginning of this year's 31 Days of Halloween. That's 31 days of daily posts all about the best holiday of the year. Last year over 70 different blogs participated in the annual Halloween countdown. This year, I'm guessing, we'll see over 100. I've already begun compiling my list of this year's participants. If you're planning to join us this year, please let me know.
If you're not planning to participate, but want to be part of the fun anyway, then stop back here on October 1st, and find out how.
If you'll excuse me, I've got a lot of work to do to in order to be prepared.

I have no idea how I missed such an important date, but thanks John, for reminding me it's almost *time*!!
You *know* you can count me in for the countdown--I've been looking forward to it all year. :)
Thanks for the heads up John. And I didn't realize that today was the 100 day marker either. Hooray! Yes, please count me in! And I love the image too! :o)
I'm in again for sure! Both my regular blog and Para Abnormal comic.
Had so much fun last year and connected with many new like minded internet friends. Can't wait for this year.
Yikes! 100 days. Time to step up the preparations. I'm definitely in again for the countdown. Been looking forward to it :)
I would like to take part in the countdown this year on my blog Doo Wacka Doodles. I'm already doing outlines & prep work! I'm really excited about it!
I know I already said affirmative, but I just wanted to drop a line and say thanks again for nudging people.
I plan on participating again this year. If I can keep up.
I'd better get started now.
Hi I really like your blog and hope that this interests you and your readers.
I am attempting to amass a large collection of portraits of Frankenstein's Monster in as many different styles and in as many different media as possible as an ongoing art project. The only stipulation is that the size is 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches (standard artist trading card size) and that each card has name, date, title and anything else you care to add on the back.
I welcome cards from both amateur and professional artists.
I will be leaving blank cards with instructions and mailing address in galleries, colleges, art shops, on buses, handing them out in the street and wherever else I can think of.
If you are reading this and would like to get involved, please send a portrait to:
A Patchwork Of Flesh
45 Silversea Drive
Westcliff on Sea
Essex
SS0 9XD
United Kingdom
Each card I receive will be uploaded here to produce an on-line gallery, I then hope to put on an exhibition of these cards in a gallery.
Any chance you could add me as a link in you blog please?
I gotta get my letter out to the "Great Pumpkin!"
Okay, last year I waited until the third or fourth day of the Countdown to start posting and even then I didn't commit myself to a post-a-day thing. I refute such blatent namby-pamby-ism this year and am officially throwing my candy corn into the ring and announcing my intent to partake in the 2009 Countdown!
Someone be sure and remind me about this sometime closer to October, please.
I'd love to join the Halloween fun! Becca
Sign me up too!
Hi! I want to join up this year, too. I was planning to stock up ideas this month, even.
Good Evening,
Please sign Gothic Tea Society up for the Halloween fun! Great idea!
~W~
Oh, shoot, sign me up, lol! This year will be my second year doing "31 Days of Halloween", with a Halloween themed giveaway every day of October! I'll also have guest bloggers, recipes, crafts and tons of fun!
I wish I had known about your even last year!!
Hi John--
Yes, Musty TV will be participating again this year. Thanks for putting a list together!
3rd year's the charm!
What kind of a Halloween Addict would I be if I wasn't IN!
AllHallowSteve
HalloweenAddict.com
Eegah!! and Tabonga! is in!!!
Please count me in again this year!
A million angry, torch-wielding villagers couldn't keep Frankensteinia and Monster Crazy away from this! Looking forward to 31 days of scary fun.
Looks like things are off to a good start, John! As I said in an email to you previously, the Random Acts of Geekery is not only in, I've already got my full month's of posts already done and pre-scheduled so all I have to deal with in October is updating the list of participating blogs!
I haven't done a full tally yet, and am still waiting to hear back from a few people. We lost a couple of people from last year, and Kirk Demarais is out again this year as well, but it looks like still be starting with more people than we did last year.
Considering that the first year only four or so of us had coordinated their efforts, then the next year had forty +, and last year more than 70, I speculate this year we may pass the 100 mark.
I'm going to try and get us some media attention this year, too. If anyone can help with that, please let me know.
I think anyone who has done this before knows that any work that can be done ahead of time makes the whole process more enjoyable, and allows you time to see what everyone else is doing. I'm hoping to have everything done except my daily movies. I'm tempted to cheat on those too, but I like watching monster movies everyday throughout October, so cheating would take away some of my own fun.
What I've found most amazing of all is that with so many people participating, there has been very little overlap whatsoever.
Good luck everyone. I can't wait to see what treats you drop in my bag this year.
I don't know what kind of media coverage we can get... maybe G4's "Attack of the Show" would be interested in covering it... we might also want to see if Topless Robot will help promote it!
By coinkidink, without knowing about this countdown day, I made a reference to gearing up for Halloween and an appropriate YouTube post. I shall now join the elite and make it a daily contribution.
The Macabre Drive-In Theater would love to join in the ghoulish fun!
I don't know why I torture myself but my blog Distinctly Jamaican Sounds will again be participating in the Halloween countdown... again I plan to complete my 22 track Jamaican Halloween Spooktacular complete with spooky sound effects and other creepy audio. I will post an individual track for each weekday in October... and am planning on sharing some other non-music items on the weekends. I'm looking forward to it!
The Surfing Pizza tipped me off to this great Halloween list you're compiling.
Count me in!
I'm doing a top 23 public domain horror moments countdown on my Peter's Choice Awards blog starting October 1st and would love to be included.
Halloween wouldn't be complete without a visit to the vintage decoration site www.Retroween.com.
Sign me up. Sounds like fun! I will do my best to do both Frog on the Pumpkin (most likely) and the Davis House News (Davis Graveyard) blog updated each day.
Cheers!
Hi there -
Just stumbled upon your nice "countdown to halloween" blog project - and I'd love to get count in!
Among others, I run a blog for an arthouse / cult movie / classics video store here in Berlin/Germany. each year, starting from october 1st, we present our collection of vintage horror and science fiction movies at the most prominent position in the store.
this year, i'll be running a "halloween countdown" (since i'm already writing planned postings ahead, I swear this is a coincidence!) on the video store's blog: each night at midnight (CET, however) one posting with a trailer to a typical halloween movie will go online (with some infos about the particular film).
i'd be glad to include a note the "countdown to halloween" at the the end of each posting, in return i'd love to get added to the list:
http://filmkunst-berlin.blogspot.com
(i'll choose "halloween countdown" as label, so you can just as well link only to
http://filmkunst-berlin.blogspot.com/search/label/halloween%20countdown
to get only to halloween content)
greetings from Berlin,
Thomas
