Master of His Universe

The third, and main piece I created for "Under the Influence: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" show at Gallery 1988 was this one, titled "Master of His Universe" featuring Battlecat/Cringer.

The piece is larger and is a 3-D paper construction/collage consisting of four layers plus the character and flower elements.

This is wonderful - and yes I concur, much more fun than Evil Lyn!

No, Jim. I won't be there sadly enough. I hope to get out that way again before too long. I'll be sure to let you know when I do.

What a fun collage! I love the 3-D aspects and the muted color palette. The shadows are such a phenomenally detailed touch! It's that attention to the little things that often takes a piece of work to the next level.

I always did love Cringer. : )

The shadows were easy to add. I just used the sun to create them when I photographed the piece. When I say it's a 3-D collage, I actually mean it's three dimensional. The background layer is almost an inch lower than the foreground layer, and Cringer covers various depths in between. The shadows are real shadows cast by the various paper elements in the different layers.

Here's an earlier one I did which uses the same principle:
