Frank Frazetta (1928-2010)

Legendary artist, Frank Frazetta passed away earlier today at the age of 1982. Born in 1929, Frazetta was one of the legendary EC Comics artists before becoming one of the most popular and imitated paperback book cover painters of all time. His immediately recognizable style lent itself perfectly to the subject matter of exotic locations and full-bodied women, muscular heroes, monsters, prehistoric creatures, and dank atmosphere. His covers were no doubt instrumental in selling countless books and turning people on to Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan and John Carter series of novels as well as Robert E. Howard's Conan series. Frazetta's covers for these books not only lured new readers, but defined the look of these characters for all time.

Frank Frazetta was one of the greats and he will be missed. My condolences to his family.
