31 Days of Halloween - Day 21 - Movie 2

Luther Heggs wants to move up from being the typesetter for the local paper to become one of its reporters. He's given an assignment to prove himself; to spend the night in the local spooky house on the 20th anniversary of a murder-suicide that took place there. His experience in the house leads to much hilarity and a number of unexpected turns in his life.

I'm a big fan of Don Knotts and The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966) is the perfect vehicle for his particular style of nervous physical comedy. Why there was never an adaptation of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow with him as Ichabod Crane seems like a real missed opportunity. This movie is a lot of fun and a perfect choice for kids who might not be ready for genuine scares. It's a movie I return to regularly.

I can't believe I never thought about Knotts for a Sleepy Hollow adaptation! How cool would THAT have been?
