Jill Thompson's Scary Godmother



I'm a big fan of artist, Jill Thompson's work, and particularly her Scary Godmother works. Presented as books, comics and two animated television movies, Jill is hoping to expand into providing some quality merchandising beginning with a really amazingly well-crafted Scary Godmother doll. She has a Kickstarter campaign running right now, and I urge everyone to take a look at her video, as well as the accompanying incentives. You'll notice right away how passionate she is about her work, her fans, and this project. You'll also notice what a fantastic doll it is, and how affordable it is, especially in comparison to similarly sized corporate licensed dolls.

The above image (which you can view larger by clicking on it) is a cut paper collage piece that I made for the campaign, which will be included in a book of Scary Godmother pin-ups. The original will also be offered as one of the incentives, but I don't know for how much, or when, if interested, contact Jill via her Kickstarter page. It measures approximately 25" x 12" in an edition of one.

Edgar Wright Art Now Available


The Official Edgar Wright Art Show at Gallery 1988 (West) runs through September 7. For those of you unable to visit the gallery in person, all of the artwork is now available to look at and purchase here.

Both my portrait of Edgar Wright and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers (shown above) are still available. The Shaun of the Dead piece is not. That now belongs to Mr. Wright.

The Official Edgar Wright Art Show opens tonight at Gallery 1988 (West) from 7:00 - 10:00, but you'll want to get there early as this will be a popular show and will feature some special guests along with a lot of amazing artwork.

"The Official Edgar Wright Art Show" opens next Tuesday at Gallery 1988. It's sure to be a great show. IDW Begins Collecting My X-Files Stories


Not only is IDW publishing a new monthly X-Files comic book series, but they're collecting the original comic book series which was published by Topps in the late 90s. Stefan Petrucha was the original writer. I took over the writing with issue #17 for almost all of the remaining run of the series.

My The X-Files stories will start being collected with X-Files Classics, Vol. 2 which will be available in hardcover format this Fall. You can preorder this book from your local comic book store or independent bookstore, or via Amazon, which incorrectly lists the book as being a paperback. The  ISBN number is the same as the hardcover, which is the only format the book is being published in right now. There's a link at the bottom of this post.
