Ask Me Anything #16




As everyone slowly recovers from the holidays, it's time once again for "Ask Me Anything." This feature runs on the first Monday of every month and gives you the opportunity to ask me anything you might be wondering about me, my work, my favorite stuff of 2011, or anything at all.  I've already said this twice previously and failed to deliver, but this month I swear I'll also be responding to a couple of questions from previous editions of "Ask Me Anything" that I've been remiss in answering, and had intended to get to before my work schedule and the holidays got the best of me. 

Head down to the comment section and post your question. I'll either post my answer in the comment section as well, or answer it in a special post all its own sometime later in the month.

I've been asked a lot of good, thought provoking questions in the past as well as some really banal ones. all of which I tried to answer. Hi Mr Rozum.

1. Do you think you will ever write a novel or novels? (or have your already?.

2. I think you alluded to more plans with DC post-Static Shock - anything that can be shared yet or are things still up in the air?

1. At some point, yes. I've always been envious of people who are able to write novels by writing for 15 minutes at a time while waiting for food to cook, or waiting in the car for their kids they're picking up.

I can't work like that. If I start a project I like to just barrel ahead until it's finished. To do that, I need to be able to completely immerse myself in it to the exclusion of anything else. So, for me to write a novel I'd need a large enough chunk of time where that was the only project I was working on. Hopefully I'll have that luxury sometime.

2. It's still too early to say. At the moment I'm concentrating on writing that I'm doing for a project outside of comics altogether -- but I can't say what that is either.

Fairly obvious one, but have you made any Resolutions? I resolve to send out the cards & toys from last year. (Did I promise you anything? Maybe a Godzilla postcard?)

Michael -- No resolutions from me. I'm pretty good about sticking with what i say I'm going to do, except for responding to emails in a more timely fashion.

I don't think you promised me anything, but if you're offering, I'll take you up on it.

Any chance of Midnight Mass being collected as a tpb? Would you ever consider returning to that title at Vertigo, or doing anything for Vertigo period? Will we see you doing anything for the DCnU sooner than later?

I can't give you an answer regarding a tpb collection of Midnight, Mass.. Perhaps if the Xombi tpb which comes out next month sells well, DC will consider it. I recommend writing DC and letting them know that you'd like to see it collected, and to see it return as a series. Fan input does have an effect on decision making by the publishers. The recent Xombi revival happened because of fan demand.

I would love to return to Midnight, Mass. if the opportunity were to present itself. I had a lot of stories planned for that series which i'd still like to tell. I'd be happy to return to both Vertigo and the DCnU at any time. It's a matter of finding the right project. I have developed some new projects for DC, but can't say anything further at this time. It's simply too early. I'm hoping it's sooner than later, but any new series takes months to get up and running.
