I worked at the local movie theater when that movie came out, One of the girls working there had a pet St. Bernard, so one night we foamed up around his jaws and as people were exiting the theater via the doors that led directly outside, we threw a tennis ball across the lawn towards them, and let the dog go, calling out "Cujo! Cujo, come back here." The running screaming patrons made it all worth while.
