31 Days of Halloween - Day 19 - Movie 1

I have a soft spot for gorilla movies, no matter how hokey, though I do prefer "King Kong" to "Konga." Fortunately, "Gorilla at Large" (1954) is closer in quality to the former than the latter. More a mystery than a horror movie, this glorious technicolor production revolves around a series of murders taking place within the confines of a carnival, with the lead suspect either the show's gorilla star, Goliath, or someone else, wearing a gorilla costume. The story is very engaging and the cast of excellent actors, including Anne Bancroft, Raymond Burr, Lee J. Cobb, Warren Stevens, Cameron Mitchell, and Lee Marvin add to the quality of this production. This movie, which was originally released in 3-D, has a similar feel to it as "House of Wax" (1953).

If ya like, I'll send you 2 Sunday strips of Herman by Jim Unger. He seems fond of gorillas as well.
