Picking up shortly after Hellraiser ended, Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988) Kirsty (Ashley Laurence) is brought to a mental hospital where the founder, Dr. Channard (Kenneth Cranham), is obsessed with the cenobites, and through Kirsty and a young female patient (Imogen Boorman) obsessed with solving puzzles, has found a way to contact them. Channard resurrects Julia (Clare Higgins), and Kirsty seeks access to Hell in an attempt to free her father.
This first sequel lacks some of the originality of the first film, but feels like a coherent continuation of the story building on the mythology of Hell and the cenobites that serve there. The biggest issue I hve with this movie is that the stone walls of the corridors of hell betray their true canvas identities a number of times when characters bang, or even brush against them. If you enjoyed the first movie, you should like this one as well.
